Music for Editing

While in the process of filming, we found that we had to make slight adjustments to the music that we were using, and in fact create a further two versions one being a version of the song where the speed of the music had been increased, and in the second where the speed had been decreased.

We found by filming footage in time with the increased music, we could create appropriate and desired effects while in the process of editing. We found by making the character (whoever they may be) start lip syncing to the song of a high speed, that when it came to editing, we could then reduce the speed so it looks as though it is being said in the original version, whereas the effects we used such as the fan etc, can create slow motion effects while everything else seems more or less normal due to the change in speed within the music.
We have found -now being in the process of editing- that this tactic actually works really well and has come out with some highly effective results overall which we have repeated slightly throughout the piece.
Again this idea was something we had earlier seen in some of our inspirational pieces, and despite the worry of not having as much as an advanced editing technique, we created our own, and very successful method of creating the effect want wanted/planned to have within our music video.

Reasons and Explanations

After posting photographs of our filming and one of the main characters that we used throughout the sequence, I felt that some description as to what we chose and why we chose the image/effects we did was necessary.
We chose to do Emma all in blue not only to signify the "electric blue" type feeling which in our noted lyrics we have mentioned in thorough detail, but after the HUGE phenomenon of 2009's 'Avatar' we knew that this particular image is one that has globally become huge where audiences' worldwide has wanted to try on themselves, purchasing programmes and downloads on how to make themselves into one of the 'Avatar''s therefore we came to the conclusion to, despite making up Emma in a way that connotes electric blue, we also wanted to add something that we factually knew would intrigue our audience and potentially admire/want done themselves.

We used a fan throughout the video to give an 'air' type effect which for obvious reasons, we wanted due to our song title "I Need Air' but also to give some really effective shots that could be changed in speed during editing- mainly to slow down- so that it created a really natural yet modern overall look to our video and created some really effective footage that we can use throughout the piece.

We also chose to film bases of our video behind a plain white wall with some single lighting, this is because we felt simplicity is the key to our success as the most can be done with it when in the process of editing and finalising our ideas.
After viewing many pieces that gave us inspiration and leading institutions' works and what they include within their music videos to make it a whole, we came to the conclusion that simplicity is the best method and if needs be, our skills/techniques can be added to the footage in the editing process to create the desired and overall wanted effect, taking in the consideration of the audience and the points we have made throughout our planning to ensure that we produce what we want and stay on track with our brief/task.
